Beauty Therapist generally attend vocational courses for this profession. Training often lasts 9-24 months and involves hands-on practice in hairdressing, skincare techniques, and other beautician specialties. Training for hair cutting and hairdressers may take significantly longer than other skin care specialists. Some beauticians learn this trade after school that may last for 1-3 years.

All states require beauty therapist to obtain permission except, shampooers and makeup artists. License formalities may vary from state to state. One needs to be certified in their own state to practice cosmetology.

Certain states require a high school diploma in order to get license. One must have completed a state approved training program and be over the age of 16 years, in order to gain certification. Licensing exams generally consist of a written test and a practical test of the cosmetology specialty (hairdressing, skincare, manicure, etc.). For different practices of the cosmetology separate licenses are often required.

Beauty therapist commonly attend seminars, training programs, and product shows regularly to maintain a current knowledge in their profession.

A pleasant personality, great interest and drive, creativity, ability to empathize with people, soft hearted, professionalism, an artistic ability and a love and desire of interesting work environments are essential to this career. You would need strong communication skills, providing sound reasoning, good organizational skills, patience and the ability to work on your decision. Clients are not always noted for their cool nature and you would occasionally have to be able to ignore temper tantrums that are aimed at yourself.

As a beauty therapist, your job will be to assist your customer in enhancing his or her personal looks. The beautician specializes in assisting their customers with their hair, fingernails, or makeup. The beautician can also select to assist their customers in all the features of beauty.

Your job of a beautician would have been both easy and also difficult, In case you were a beautician during the time of ancient Greeks. During the 1st century, Queen Cleopatra, utilized blue eye shadow which was made from ground lapis lazuli stones for her upper eyelids and used malachite for her lower ones. * Evaluate the value and treatment of skin and body problems.
* Slimming treatments in collaboration with a recommended doctor's diet.
* Cosmetic sales.
* Application of specialized make-up techniques.
* Lasting and momentary elimination of unwanted facial and body hair.
* Manicure and pedicure.
* Colouring of eyelashes.

Requirements to become a beauty therapist:

In order to become a beauty therapist, one must first get a licensed in the state.
You are required to complete prescribed training or education, in turn to get the required licensure. In few states, acquiring a high school diploma is sufficient to become a beautician. Several of the states need one to complete a program with a school which is licensed.
