Default Fear - And Getting Over It

My cousin wants to be a flight attendant but really does not like to fly. I told her that I thought her choice of career was out there since she does not like to fly. She told me that she would get over that fear.

Do you think it is a wise choice?

I would certainly recommend getting over the fear before getting a job as a flight attendant. Maybe she should take a few trips, just to get over the fear. It might help her become sympathetic to the people on her flights though, as many are going to be scared.

When she takes her first flight the fear is gone as she can see then that there is nothing to be afraid of. You can also present her some statistics that would show that flaying is much safer than driving a car and statistically she is more likely to get into an accident on her way to work than when she is on the plane working. But if she just wants to become a flight attendant so that she can travel then there are other similar jobs available that she can do and do not involve flying.

I agree that she should work on overcoming that fear before she starts training as a flight attendant. Some people never really get over it and it would be terrible to do all the training but she couldn't handle the flight.

Default Fear

I think that she's going to have a difficult becoming a flight attendant because her fear will hold her back. Maybe she needs to figure out why she is afraid and educate herself about airplanes and accidents.

Default Exposure?

How about finding someone who owns small airplanes and having them take her up? That way she can get used to flying. She will either face her fear or get over it or change her mind.

If she has a daring personality, she will overcome it. Much depends on her daring spirit. Then she can overcome.
