I've been curious about the gaming industry for a while. What kind of education do you think is necessary to work in the gaming industry? What topics would you study?

If you want to become one of the people who man the gaming tables, I don't think you need an academic degree. Just be alert, smart and good in math to be able to quickly compute the bets. You also need good people-handling skills and have some training.

I don't think that you need a degree to get an entry-level job in a casino. I suppose they let you go through some sort of training before you do the actual job. In terms of the characteristics needed, it pays to have good people skills and patience to deal with clients.

Thanks for sharing. It seems likely you wouldn't need a degree but I think some training in dealing with people would be beneficial. I guess it would also depend on how you want to move in the company.

Your question is too general, can you specify what you want to do in the gaming industry? Do you want to be a Slot Technician, Croupier, Security and so on. Gaming industry is a big industry and has lot of different positions…

With a casino opening here in Ohio for the first time there are a lot of positions open, most require a highschool degree, but there are many that require more experience such as Police Officer certification, financial managers, etc. If you are looking to work at a gaming table, most likely you will only need a high school degree and some customer service experience.
