Tips For Finding The Perfect Apprenticeship To Further Your Career1. Have a long-term plan in place.

Prior to starting the search for an apprenticeship, spend some time thinking about what you want to get out of your career. What type of job do you want? What opportunities excite you the most? You can use websites like Plotr to help you focus in on the specific part of your industry that you want to work in.

2. Look for openings.

A good place to begin your search for an apprenticeship is online. You can use websites like apprenticeships.org.uk to find current vacancies from employers in your area.

3. Set up a profile on the website of the National Apprenticeship Service.

Make sure to use a professional email address so that employers know that you are serious about finding a position. Don’t forget to list the specific types of opportunities that you are interested in. That way, when any new positions are posted that are a good fit, you will be notified.

4. Read the descriptions of jobs closely.

We are happy to answer questions about any positions that we have posted for employers. When evaluating a position, ask yourself whether or not it will help move you in the direction you want with your career. Don’t forget to consider how easy it would be for you to get to work and how much the position pays.

5. Put together a resume.

Put together a resume that not only showcases your achievements but that also lets employers know that you are honest, enthusiastic, and highly committed to success. Under your qualifications, put any relevant experience that you have working in the industry. This can include volunteer work, as well.

6. Make a strong first impression.

Double check that there are no spelling errors and that your grammar is correct. Make sure that all of the questions have been answered and that you haven’t overlooked any fields on the form. Don’t be afraid to tell employers why you are a better choice than other job candidates.

7. Get ready for your interview.

When you are called in for an interview, it is important to prepare in advance. If you need help preparing, the Apprenticeship Team will be happy to assist you. Remember – an interview gives you a chance to show employers why you are a great choice for the position.

Before heading in for your interview, make sure to research the company. Being able to demonstrate that you have knowledge of their organization can go a long way toward setting you apart from other candidates. An apprenticeship is a great thing and many people have got started with one according to Travis Perkins a business who trains apprentices.

Consider asking the employer for feedback after you are done with your interview. You can use this feedback to make improvements to your resume, your interview skills, or your cover letter.

Ultimately, the process of finding the perfect apprenticeship is just a matter of staying focused on the search and not giving up, even if you run into roadblocks along the way.
