Course Description:
The course is designed for participants who want an overview of Deaf Awareness and an Introduction to British Sign Language. The course will give participants an insight into Deaf Culture and History to give them a better understanding of how Deaf culture has developed over the years. The course will also look at how to make your organisation Deaf friendly looking at your environment, the way you make contact and also how to engage.
Course Contents:
The course will cover the following:
• The History of the Deaf Community
• Introduction to Deaf Culture
• Statistic on Deafness in the U.K
• Legal responsibility
• Making your organisation Deaf friendly
The course can be delivered as a half day course or it can be combined with our Introduction to British Sign Language course to make a full day course.
