Overview Of This Painting And Decorating Course

This short intensive course is ideal for those of you who want some basic introductory Painting & Decorating skills with a City and Guilds certificate at the end. It is ideal for individuals who want to gain an insight into Painting & Decorating, maybe with a view to progressing further and achieving qualifications.

What You’ll Learn From This Introduction Course

Able Skills has been fortunate enough to have our 5-day introduction to Painting and Decorating recognised by City & Guilds so for those of you choosing this option, you will receive a City & Guilds certificate for your work.

This course covers a variety of tasks and you will learn how to prepare areas before painting including repairing imperfections, you will apply water and oil based products using brushes and rollers, you will learn how to cut around obstructions, openings and fittings and you will also learn how to properly cut, paste and hang wallpaper.

In addition, we will cover aspects of working safely as well as explain and demonstrate the required tools of the trade and give plenty of ‘painters tips’ along the way.

If you have some tasks at home to tackle, this course will definitely give you the skills and confidence to make a start.

How You’ll Learn

This is a practical course, entirely hands-on, working on a variety of areas such as walls and ceilings, skirting boards and window frames. You will have guidance from instructors who will provide demonstrations to ensure your understanding of the task at hand.

Courses Open To You After

There are so many different training options at Able Skills. You can choose to maybe move on to qualification options, maybe a City and Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 qualification. Alternatively, it may be that you want to cover wallpapering in more detail in which case you can do a City & Guilds Wallpapering Course.

If you decide to upgrade to a longer qualification package as listed above, we will deduct this week from the package and deduct the cost as well – there will be no need to repeat this week and you can just move on to the next stage.

All tools and materials are provided throughout the course, you will just need to ensure that you have suitable clothing and protective footwear (mandatory).

You will not need an appointment, just turn up (08.30 – 16.30) and we will show you around. If you live further afield, we can offer accommodation on a room only basis at £20 per night.
