A friend of mine just started an Online Casino. He has always been a business man but I was shocked at this one. What does a person have to do to get an online casino up and running?

I think online casinos are regulated and franchised by Gaming Boards, and it will involve a lot of money, just like a real casino. The only difference is that he does not have to build or rent premises for location.

I know that there is "generic" software out that can be used for a real online casino set up but they are made for free play and the security is no where near what it should be for money play. I hope he didn't go this route, he could find himself in a lot of trouble.

I would never get involved in starting an online casino. Between the security it would take to the laws and requirements. There are many other options. Maybe work for a large name online casino but start one? That will take a lot of cash to get going legit.

You need a lot of licences to have a casino online, and if people would pay by card online you MUST have a lot of security in your website.

You'll need someone to design the website, and people to program the games themselves unless you can find games that are free to insert into your website. There are a lot of legal things you must check before opening up an online casino though, which can be quite complicated.

It's very competitive now with there being so many online casino's. To make a successful one, you need to offer more than others do or offer something unique. I'm sure you need to apply for some sort of license too to make sure everything is legit and so you are legally binded to pay out.
