I think doing this is something you have to do yourself. Start by posting some notices upa round your town, then rent out a small hall and see if you can get enough people to put on a show while profiting a little. That's how most started out, then just start getting larger and larger crowds until your making a living out of it!

    Good luck.

Yes, like electro said if you look at other famous comedians like kevin bridges etc they all started by simply doing small shows in front of friends and families and got them to spread the word. They then started renting out small halls and getting some profit while spreading the word even more, this si probably the best way to go about it and make a name for yourself.

A lot of pubs in my area have open-mic nights for musicians and comedians. You can start by participating in open-mic nights and get a following. Make a website or a facebook page, and try to generate likes. Eventually you may be able to get paid gigs if you can prove that people enjoy your comedy.

For what it's worth, Jobstr.com had a stand-up comic who'd appeared on all the major US networks / The Tonight Show, etc answering questions about his experiences in comedy. Might be worth checking out and maybe he's still answering Q's. Good luck!

You may start from your circle like make jokes in front of your friends and family members as well. Try to got focus from them and see their impression on your joke. Don't hesitate and go for further proceeding. If you have talent then no one can stop you to be a comedian.

It's best to get gigs locally at bars and other small venues, and hand out flyer so people remember who you are. You should try and build an audience, as this will help you when you move to bigger venues. Stick to small stints like bars and clubs until you are credible and well known enough to hire out a small venue for your show. Spread the word as best as you can, and try and get as many people there as possible. You just keep building on it from there.

We all have jokes to tell, and each of us has the potential to be the next great stand up comic with the right amount of determination and a lot of practice.
