If you want to become a doctor :

You should aim for 6 A grades at GCSE, and ideally you should do the separate sciences. You should then take Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics at A-level, and at least three of these should be A grades.

These subjects are not all “essential”, but will help you gain a place at uni. You must also have experience of working in a hospital/care home. Furthermore, the Duke of E award will help you compete, as will other extra curricular activities.

Medicine is enormously competitive, (33 applicants per place typically), but you are almost guaranteed a good job at the end of it all.
