Default I Should Become An Interior Designer

I really do like to make and design comfortable and artistic setting in my house and I have also improved some of my friends houses and I do really like it. I think I am really good at that sort of stuff and my friends say I am good, anyway they keep coming back.

I have done all the deigning and decorating for free so far but I was thinking if that is something I can make money with. I should become an interior designer. isn’t that what interior designers do? Do I need a degree in it or as I am good at it already can I just set up a website and start doing business?

Default If you love decorating interiors you should become an interior designer

A lot of people like you love the idea of making a comfortable and artistic setting in their house. This is just what interior designers do. A lot of things go into becoming one. If you wish to pursue a career in this field, you should have an understanding of what is required to become an interior designer.

An interior designer has to understand the importance of interior design to each interior space. It will enhance the look of a private residence and also be necessary to the functioning of areas like private homes, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, malls, theatres, offices and airport terminals. A rational use of design and space elements can have positive effects like increasing productivity in office, attracting more respectable clients, raising sales, providing a comfortable atmosphere and raising the market value. Earlier, interior designers dealt with only the traditional process of decoration. This included choosing styles and color palettes and selecting right artwork, lighting, floor and window coverings and furniture.

This is not required that you need a degree for that but if you have the it can be beneficial for your business only, there are many clients which ask for the degree or certificate which you for your work that you are specialized in interior designing and decorating. As you are saying that you already have a website then just advertise in your area and then let and tell people to refer you some where which are your client right now. So can consult with some marketing or advertising agency for your business.

As the field of interior design has become increasingly competitive, present day interior designers have basic or vast knowledge of the elements of architecture. They are now planning more design details related to architecture like crown moulding and built in bookshelves. They are now an essential part of the process of planning when deciding on the details of renovation like placement of walkways, stairs and windows. The most vital job of an interior designer is to create a time limit for the completion of the project. They have to synchronize work schedules with contractors and check how the project is progressing on a frequent basis. They have to see to it that everything is going as per the plan and correct any problems that arise. On completion of the project, they have to see to it that the client is satisfied and solve any issues.

If interior designing is your passion, you will be happy to know that higher than average growth is expected for this field. The bad news is there is also predicted to be stiff competition for these jobs. Still, if you are talented and motivated to get ahead, this is a promising career choice. People often use the titles “interior designer” and “interior decorator” interchangeably, without realizing the very important difference between the two. Should you be contemplating a career in either field, you will want to know that difference! Interior design is not about drawing pretty pictures and choosing attractive fabrics – it is about the ability to improve interior environments (commercially and residentially) not only by creating practical, personal and beautiful environments, but also by adhering to practices that protect the health, welfare and safety of their clients. In the mid 1990’s, if anyone had told me the scope of this profession, I probably would have chosen a different career path. Now that I am older and more experienced, of course, I also realize that the rewards of being an interior designer are equal to, or even greater than, the challenges and demands it brings.

If you enjoy it enough to go for it, then do it. You may need to move to get better business and earn more but a lot of interior designers are willing to relocate for this.

This is a very demanding career. You have to be sure of yourself and you also have to accept that not everyone will like what you like.
My sister is an interior designer in London. She makes very good money but sometimes she sees very little work for months at a time.
