Default Other Careers in The Gaming Industry

What other careers are possible in the Casino and Gaming Industry? Does the industry have room for IT professionals? What IT skills are needed in this industry?

Every industry needs some IT support person, I think to work in a casino you need to be quite highly skilled as IT needs to run there very smoothly and can not have any lapses. As for other positions and careers in casinos, then there are croupiers or casino dealers and casino pit bosses, slot machine technicians and security and surveillance people, entertainers, bar staff, waitresses, decorators, chefs and the management and regulators that keep the entire casino running.

I saw a movie once about the guy who was working in a casino as a Cooler but I can really remember what was suppose to do exactly. But it does sound good, if people ask: “ What do you do?” you say, I am Cooler.

Casinos give a ton of business to flower shops. A friend of mine owned a flower shop in Atlantic City and the big, elaborate arrangements that the local casinos would order to put in their restaurants and game floors made up a huge percentage of all of the income his shop pulled in.

Every casino has a large IT department. Besides running all the company computers, etc many network the gaming floor.

Besides IT here is a couple other jobs:
    Housekeeping (low paying)
Marine crew on casino boats (usually low paying)
    Slot attendants (pretty good tips)
Slot technician (depends on where you work but some pay very well)
    Dealer (good tips)
    Casino Host
    Hotel worker
Gaming officer (usually hired by state)

    Hope this helps.

Even big Youtube gaming networks like Machinima have a IT department of some form. There is always a job there for IT and gaming to combine you just have to find out specifically what you want and then go from there. Good luck
