City And Guilds Carpentry Course

Able Skills carpentry course will offer you the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds qualification in carpentry. This accredited 6-week site based carpentry qualification is an excellent start for anyone looking to train as a Carpenter. The units covered within this course reflect reality and will cover the most important aspects of the job so that you can take that step to a change in career. Weekend training is also available to complete this course.

What You’ll Learn In This Carpentry Course

The course will provide you with in-depth training during which time you will be assessed by our qualified carpentry assessors. The entire City & Guilds process is completed here on site at Able Skills which ensure this course is delivered using the correct procedures and without delay.

You will be trained in the following areas:

1. Fixing Skirting to a timber background
2. Fixing floor joists and laying flooring
3. Fixing door lining in stud partition or blockwork opening
4. Hanging an internal door
5. Fixing and stabilising trussed rafters
6. Setting out and cutting one pair of common rafters
7. Operating basic wood machines

The assessments you will undertake are:

• Unit 101 – Health and Safety in construction
• Unit 108 – Fixing architraves and skirtings
• Unit 109 – Constructing and fixing hatch linings
• Unit 110 – Fitting locks and latches

How You’ll Learn In This Training Course

This is an intensive 6 weeks of hands-on training, during which time you will build a portfolio of your work. You will be assessed on a variety of units and will cover a range of work from fixing skirtings, door linings and floor joists to fixing trussed rafters. The wide variety of work covered reflects reality well as this is the kind of work that is done every day in homes and on sites across the Country. These skills will enable you to undertake a variety of tasks in most carpentry working environments.

Courses Open To You After

At Able Skills, we pride ourselves on the diversity of the skills that are available in our carpentry training centre. If you would like to learn more then there is the option to train for an additional 2 weeks to work towards achieving an NVQ or alternatively, we also offer the C&G certificate in Joinery which concentrates on aspects of bench joinery if this is an avenue that you would like to go down.
