The Occupational Health & Safety (QCF) – Level 2 Course aims to provide students with an understanding of key health and safety legislation and how to maintain health and safety in the workplace. It can help in teaching safe working practices which could contribute to a reduction in work-related accidents, injury and illness. On completion of this course, students will have a sound understanding of the principles of health and safety and their role in keeping the workplace safe.
The course covers risk assessments for display screen equipment (DSE), the control of hazardous substances and safe manual handling. It enables learners to develop knowledge of how to respond to accidents and incidents in the workplace environment and also looks at the principles and practice of fire management at work and the role of the nominated fire warden.
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a Level 2 QCF Award Qualification with 8 Credits.
This course is delivered through an interactive online learning platform, where your knowledge will be assessed through a series of tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). The course content is broken down into bite-size chunks to make your learning more manageable and effective. The courses are fully digitised so you can study on any PC or smart device.

The course includes the following units:
Unit 1: Health & Safety in the Workplace (1 Credit)
In this unit, learners will understand the roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare in the workplace, and will look at how risk assessment contributes to health and safety and identify how to control risks.
Unit 2: Fire Safety Principles (1 Credit)
Learners will understand the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace, and how to control and reduce these risks.
Unit 3: DSE Risk Assessment (2 Credits)
This unit covers the importance of Display Screen Equipment (DSE) risk assessments and the principles of controlling risks to health from workstation design and use.
Unit 4: COSHH Risk Assessment (2 Credits)
Learners will understand the importance of controlling substances hazardous to health, as well as learning about the main types of hazardous substances that are relevant to the workplace.
Unit 5: Manual Handling Safety at Work (2 Credits)
In this unit, learners will understand the reasons for safe handling and how manual handling risk assessments contribute to health and safety.
