Taken from our suite of health and social care training courses, this qualification aims to develop and improve your knowledge and skills in relation to adult social care.
Unlike other health and social care training courses, this course is split into manageable parts. These are:
Part A
In this part, you will gain an understanding of the importance of an individual’s communication and language needs, and personal preferences. They will also learn how to reduce barriers to communication and understand the importance of continual personal development in adult social care settings.
The units covered in this part of the course are:
Unit 1: Principles of communication in adult social care settings
Unit 2: Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
Part B
You will understand the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion, examining the impact discrimination can have upon working practice and how to reduce it. You also learn how to recognise signs of abuse and respond accordingly to reduce unsafe practice.
The units covered in this part of the course are:
Unit 3: Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings
Unit 4: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
Part C
This part introduces the duty of care required in a variety of health and social care settings, and helps your learners understand the overall role of a social care worker. This part will also explain how to provide person-centred care, and why this approach is important in adult social care settings.
The units covered in this part of the course are:
Unit 5: Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
Unit 6: Understand the role of the social care worker
Unit 7: Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings
Part D
In this part, you cover many aspects of health and safety in a social care setting and gain an understanding of your responsibility to work in safe ways. This includes manual handling techniques, control of hazardous substances and handling sensitive information.

Unit 8: Understand health and safety in social care settings
Unit 9: Understand how to handle information in social care settings
